GREG Tour of Domino Sugar Factory

The GREG Tour of Domino Sugar Factory took place on May 13th, 2025. The tour was led by Vishaan Chakrabarti of PAU who went into much detail about Two Trees takeover of the project which called for 60% more public open space on a new street grid, allowed mixed-use zoning, and was designed to connect the existing neighborhood to the new waterfront.  Vishaan then discussed his redesign and conversion of the building. The plans included adding a new glass facade with a barrel vault behind the existing, landmarked walls of the Pan, Filter, and Finishing House. The new structure rises 15 stories to the barrel vault, and a penthouse measuring 30 feet. He stated the shape of the roof was inspired by the arched window openings that are placed throughout the original facade. We were then treated to touring some of the office spaces for lease in the building along with the rooftop where private events are held to stunning views of Manhattan.
